Compassion is my compass, and I strive to live a conscious life that is aligned with my values. I have 10 years of experience doing the most demanding job in the world, being a mom to 2 beautiful souls, who are now 8 and 10. They've taught me more about life in the past 10 years than I learned in the first 32!
I am a recovering perfectionist who is consciously working on being the role model I want for my children. I've learned that progress, not perfection, is the goal. Life is never short of opportunities to learn and grow.
In 2016 my whole world was turned upside down when my 64 year young Mom, my most loyal cheerleader, was suddenly diagnosed with the most aggressive form of brain cancer (glioblastoma). Everything I thought I knew about life was suddenly put into question. My yoga practice - mostly breathwork, mindfulness and self-study - were the constants that guided me through this incredibly challenging period. My Mom's body died on March 4, 2017 and I feel like I entered into a very new phase of life. A phase that has included many more deaths and challenge upon challenge to find a deep resilience and sense of courage.
This current phase is not only one of grief, but also one of liberation from so many limiting beliefs and oppressive habits that I have acquired through the years, or lifetimes. I am still working through so much, and with each subtle breakthrough I am so excited about where life has brought me.
With Growing Hearts Yoga & More, my intention was to create a space for women to feel supported in a community, uplifted physically and emotionally, and inspired in their quest for being the best version of themselves. Soon, Growing Hearts Yoga & More will be merging into my newest project, Haus Wabi Sabi, a wellbeing center for children and adults in Lachen, SZ. Sign up for my newsletter to stay informed.
Outside of yoga & meditation classes, I focus on what I call "Ahimsa in Action". I co-lead a community of conscious-minded families who meet regularly to support each other with living a compassionate lifestyle (find us at www.swissveganfamilies.com). Another project, Ahimsa in Action, is in its infancy with the intention of helping yoga practitioners (students and teachers) make the connection between our lifestyle choices and Ahimsa, an ethical principle in yoga that guides us towards nonviolence for all living beings.
It took me 15 years in the corporate world of finance, a deep dive into postpartum depression, and leaving my six-figure career to become a stay-at-home-mom to realise that success has nothing to do with money, possessions or recognition from others.
Live the life you love. Love the life you live.
In my life BC (before children!), I completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honors Business Administration, 1999), passed my US Certified Public Accountant exams (2003) and earned an MBA in Finance (2010).
I'd to thank the following teachers for sharing their wisdom, challenging my physical and mental limits, and inspiring my direction:
